Eligibility Criteria 

Age

  • General category candidates – Minimum 17½ years and  Maximum age limit – 25 years on date of commencement of course
  • SC / ST category candidates – Maximum age limit 30 years on date of commencement of course

  • OBC category candidates – Maximum age limit 28 years on date of commencement of course.
  • Degree or Diploma candidates – Maximum age limit 27 years on date of commencement of course.

    (Admission priority will be given to students who are below 23 years of age at the commencement of the course.)

Pass 6 months GP Rating Course

Receive CDC issued by the respective Shipping Master Office

Join a shipping company as Deck Rating or Engine Rating

After completion of 6 months of sea service, Qualify as Rating forming part of Navigation watch or Engineering watch

Further sea service to become Able Seafarer Deck or Engine

'Rating' to an officer on ships. A committed person can rise to the levels of a Captain or a Chief Engineer by passing higher examinations conducted by DGS
