Eligibility Criteria
- Passed (Four) 4 years B.E./ B. Tech Degree including lateral entry in the 2nd year of the degree with 50% marks OR Passed (Three) 3 years diploma with 60% mark in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent from recognized by any State or Central Government or AICTE, Govt of India.
- Holding of valid Indian Passport
- Medically fit as per DGS norms

- General category candidates – Maximum age limit 35 years on date of commencement of course
- SC / ST category candidates – Maximum age limit 30 years on date of commencement of course
- OBC category candidates – Maximum age limit 28 years on date of commencement of course.
Mandatory Requirement
- Valid Indian Passport and DGS Approved Medical Fitness Certificates.
- To provide pre-sea training for ETO that would balance theoretical knowledge, practical skills, safety consciousness and efficiency for those who wish to take up seafaring as Electro-technical officer on merchant ships.

- Monitor the operation of Electrical, Electronic & Control Systems
- Monitor the operation of automatic control systems of propulsion & auxiliary machinery
- Operate Generators and Distribution Systems
- Operate Computers & Computer Networks on Ships
- Use English in Written & Oral Form
- Maintain & repair of Automation & Control system of Main Propulsion & Auxiliary machinery
- Maintain & repair electrical, electronic & control systems of Deck machinery & Cargo Handling equipment
- Application of Leadership & Team working Skills
- Ensure Compliance with pollution prevention requirements
- Prevent , Control & fight Fire on board
- Mandatory STCW Basic Courses i.e.
Basic Safety Training (BST)
Security Training for Seafarers with designated security duties

- Receive CDC issued by the respective Shipping Master Office
- Completed 8 months On-board training on ship as Trainee Electro Technical Officer
- After completion of 8 months of sea service, Qualify for COC examination
- After successful clearance Theory & Oral exam for obtaining COC
