General Purpose Rating (GP Rating)

Duration – 6 months and Fully residential

Approved by The Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India

Course commencement: Every year 1st working day of January / July

Eligibility Criteria :

Holding of valid Indian Passport

10th Standard from government recognized board with subjects English, Mathematics and Science with 40% aggregate and also require 40% marks in English in 10th standard exam.

OR,

Pass in 2 year ITI Course (Fitter / Machinist / Mechanic / Welder / Turner) from Govt. approved Institute with 50% aggregate marks in final year & must have secured minimum 40% in English in 10th standard exams.

Medically fit as per DGS norms

Age: Minimum 17.5 years and maximum 25 years

Further sea service to become Able Seafarer Deck or Engine

‘Rating’ to an officer on ships.
